We are at a watershed moment in the global struggle against police, and the brutality that they represent. Fed up with the terrorism of racist police, countless thousands have taken to the street worldwide to express their collective rage. From Ferguson and Brooklyn to Athens and Mexico City, in countless neighbourhoods around the world, police violence is being met with resistance.
March 15th marks the International Day Against Police Brutality. In the spirit of this day, we are calling for the second annual demonstration on the streets of downtown Hamilton – in solidarity with struggles against the police globally, and as a manifestation of our own antagonism against the police locally.
Police brutality is not something that just happens elsewhere, but is an everyday occurrence in Hamilton. It is demonstrated in the actions of the rapist, sergeant Derek Mellor, and in the murders committed at the hands of officer Ryan Tocher and officer Michael McNaughhton. It is demonstrated in the behaviour of the ACTION Team, as they harass all those in the downtown core who do fit neatly within Hamilton’s new “revitalized” image, and in the constant indignities that they dish out every day.
Police inflict terror on our communities – they harass, humiliate, beat, and even murder us with relative impunity. They send our loved ones to jail, and they protect the rich and powerful at our collective expense.
This March 15th, we are calling for others to join us in reclaiming space, if only temporarily, from the continued encroachment of CCTV cameras, overzealous security guards, and increasingly invasive police that all helping to transform the downtown into a playground for the rich. Together in the streets, we will send a confrontational message to the pigs, clearly demonstrating our opposition to their rule, and everything that it represents. Crew up. Bring your friends, stick together, and start making big plans.

Hamilton: Journée internationale contre la brutalité policière
Nous sommes arrivés à un moment charnière dans la lutte globale contre la police et la brutalité qu’elle représente. Dégoûtés par le terrorisme de la police raciste, d’innombrables milliers ont manifesté autour du monde pour faire entendre leur rage collective. De Ferguson et Brooklyn jusqu’à Athens et Mexico, dans les quartiers du monde entier, on résiste à la violence policière.
Le 15 Mars, c’est Le Journée internationale contre la brutalité policière. En plein esprit de ce jour, nous faisons appel à la deuxième manifestation annuelle au centre-ville d’Hamilton – en solidarité avec les luttes contre la police globalement et comme signe de notre antagonisme local contre la police.
La brutalité policière n’est pas simplement une affaire d’ailleurs, elle est aussi une réalité quotidienne à Hamilton. Ça ce voit dans les actions du violeur, sergent Derek Mellor, et dans les meurtres commises par les policiers Ryan Tocher et Michael McNaughton. Ça ce voit dans le conduit de l’équipe ACTION, qui harcèle tous ceux et celles au centre-ville qui ne rentrent pas dans la nouvelle image ”revitalisé” d’Hamilton et dans les humiliations incessantes qu’ils perpétuent.
Les policiers terrorisent nos communautés – ils nous harcèlent, humilient, battent, et même tuent en quasi-impunité. Ils emprisonnent nos proches et ils protègent les riches et les puissants à dépens des nous tous.
Le 15 Mars, nous faisons appel aux autres de nous rejoindre pour reprendre l’espace, ne serait-ce que temporairement, de l’empiétement en cours des caméras de surveillance, des vigiles trop zélés, et une police de plus en plus agressive, qui aident tous à transformer le centre-ville en terrain de jeu pour les riches. Réunit dans les rues, nous enverrons un message conflictuel aux porcs pour démontrer notre opposition à leur autorité et tout ce qu’elle représente. Venez en bande. Apportez vos amis, restez ensemble, et commencez à faire de grands projets.
